Host
Host Updates
The host keeps itself up to date. Updates download in the background and install in a maintenance window, never during a session.
How updates work
Section titled “How updates work”A session in progress holds the install until the session ends, whatever the window says.
The host carries the same version number as the client builds, for example 2026-10-11-2304.
Settings
Section titled “Settings”Settings are in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Computle\Remotle\Update. A value that is absent takes its default.
| Value | Type | Default | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
Channel | REG_SZ | prod | prod (Stable) or beta |
PollMinutes | REG_DWORD | 30 | How often the host checks for an update |
WindowStart | REG_SZ | 02:00 | Start of the update window, local time, HH:MM |
WindowEnd | REG_SZ | 05:00 | End of the update window. An end before the start runs past midnight. |
WindowEnabled | REG_DWORD | 1 | 0 installs updates as soon as they are ready, at any hour, outside sessions |
The updater is the ComputleUpdater service. Updates are staged under C:\ProgramData\Computle\Remotle\Update\.
Settings are in /etc/computle/update.conf, one Name=value per line, with the same names and defaults as Windows:
Channel=prodPollMinutes=30WindowStart=02:00WindowEnd=05:00WindowEnabled=1The updater is the computle-host-updated service. After an update it checks that the host started and registered with Computle; if it did not, the previous package is reinstalled.
The computle-enrolment package is updated with the host package rather than by the updater.
